5-19-09: Vanderbilt: Exercise motivation class starts June 2

The JumpStart Exercise Motivation Workshop focuses on psychological strategies for increasing motivation and preventing dropout from exercise; participants will also be introduced to how to engage in safe and appropriate forms of exercise.

Instructors: Colin Armstrong, Ph.D. (Clinical Health Psychologist) & Regina Tyree, M.S. (Exercise Physiologist).

Day/Time/Location: Tuesdays 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. for 6 weeks starting June 2 at the Dayani Center.

Topics Include:

· Becoming & Staying Motivated For Exercise
· Getting Started With Safe And Appropriate Exercise
· Making Exercise More Enjoyable
· Fitting Exercise Into A Busy Schedule
· Preventing Boredom, Frustration & Dropout From Exercise

Workshop Fee: $45 for current Dayani Center members & patients, $90 for Vanderbilt employees and adult members of their immediate family, $145 for all others (adults only). Payable by cash, check, or credit card. Payroll deduction spread over 6 months ($15 per month) is available for Vanderbilt employees.

The first day of the class also serves as the orientation session. Those who attend the first day and decide to not enroll in the workshop will not be charged.

Optional: For an additional fee of $98, workshop participants can receive two months full use of the Vanderbilt Dayani exercise facility (indoor lap pool, walking track, cardio & strength training equipment, group cycling, water aerobics, Yoga, Tai Chi, etc.) and access to weekly 15-minute 1-to-1 exercise instruction sessions.
